Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the League of NH Craftsmen's Fair!
Tues, Aug 5 to Fri, Aug 8
Join New Hampshire Tours as we celebrate 75 years of handcrafted excellence with the League of NH Craftsmen. The League was the nation’s first state-supported crafts organization, and since its inception in 1932, has been dedicated to nurturing New Hampshire’s rich craft heritage.
Day 1 The tour begins in Boston with a welcome dinner the evening of Tuesday, August 5. The cost of transportation from NYC to Boston and your hotel room Tuesday night is not included but NH Tours can help make these arrangements.
Day 2 This day will be spent at the 75th Annual League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair. At the base of Sunapee mountain there is a sea of white tents with beautifully appointed craft booths where you can speak with individual craftspeople and purchase from them. Contemporary and traditional fine handcraft in virtually every type of craft medium including furniture, jewelry, glass, pottery, prints, metalwork, fiber arts, woodcarvings, weaving, sculptures and leatherwork are on display. These handcrafted items represent the fine skill and creativity of more than 350 juried members of the League. See live demonstrations and enjoy musical performances throughout the day. You can even ride a ski lift to the top of Mount Sunapee. This evening we’ll enjoy a group dinner and a trip down memory lane as we enjoy “My Fair Lady” at the New London Barn Playhouse – summer stock since 1933.
Day 3 We’ll tour the beautiful Sunapee region of New Hampshire. Included is a stop at the historic estate and gardens of The Fells. This was the home to John M. Hay who served as private secretary to Abraham Lincoln and was also Secretary of State. The 22-room Colonial Revival house welcomed three generations of the Hay family and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After lunch, we'll put up our feet and enjoy a relaxing, narrated boat cruise on scenic Lake Sunapee. This evening we'll celebrate the League's 75th Birthday with dinner, entertainment by Tom Rush a native of NH and one of the most influential folk music artists of our time...and fireworks!
Your accommodations in New Hampshire will be at a quintessential New England inn. All rooms have private baths and are decorated in typical New England décor…a delight for your eyes and senses.
